CDBA Safety and Steering

CDBA provides a very comprehensive safety program and encourages as many members as possible to take the Safety training even if you are not interested in steering. It is the coaches’ responsibility to supervise and sponsor each candidate who will move on to take the Steering Practical Test, thus every coach is to complete Safety Classroom.

Team captains and coaches are responsible for the preparation of their candidates to demonstrate that they can safely and effectively navigate a dragon boat in the safety classroom and the steering practicals.

Beginning in 2015, CDBA is rolling out a two stage safety training. An online book knowledge exam and an applied safety/decision making Safety Classroom. All CDBA members are encouraged to take the CDBA Online Safety Exam. More information can be found in the 2015 CDBA Safety manual.

Beginning in 2015, CDBA is rolling out a two tier steering certification to enhance. Each tier has a different practical exam associated with it. Tier 1 is a prerequisite for Tier 2. More information can be found in the 2015 CDBA Safety manual.

For CDBA members to signup for a Steering Classroom or Steering Practical), the Team Coach/Captain/Manager/POC must login to the Team Captain area and signup their candidates. Safety and Steering program is free for all CDBA members.
